Samples containing glycyrrhizinic acid were hydrolised under different acid hydrolytic conditions of which 3n sulfuric acid with an equal volume of dioxan-water gave the best results. The formed glycyrrhetinic acid was extracted with chloroform, silylated and analysed using capillary GLC. The separations were carried out on a coated with SE54 fused silica column. Identification of the hydrolisis products was carried out by the means of GC-MS.
